Parklife endorsed by Carbon Copy (June 2026)
We’re delighted to announce that Parklife, the drama podcast we’re developing about the climate crisis has been endorsed by the the charity Carbon Copy who are championing local climate activism across the UK. Here’s the link to the blog post we wrote for them.
When research comes alive! (August 2025)
While sorting through some wartime love letters for a family member, Lilie came across this programme for a touring ballet company performing in Singapore in 1946. The relative, a Petty Officer in the Navy, had gone to see the ballet for the first time with his shipmates. He didn’t seem to think much of it, but did send the programme to his sweetheart in London, which is how Lilie came across it.
“It’s so exciting to see hours of research suddenly come alive in the form of something you can actually hold in your hand! For example, we have been discussing whether we should have two pianists touring with our fictional troupe, The Ballet Continental – and here is evidence on the front cover that there were actually three with this company, two of them rotating. The principal male dancer, Nevill Astor, later appeared in Powell and Pressburger’s The Red Shoes (1948), while the company’s Russian star, Irina Vinogradova, seems to have disappeared from the records entirely. Possibly she wasn’t Russian at all….”
We’re looking to work with an independent production company to progress our TV drama series project Dancing in the Dark.
Young Norwich Creative Awards 2025 (July 2025)
Lilie has been doing a lot of reading in her role as a judge in the Creative Writing category of the Young Norwich Creative Awards (YNCA), now in its third year.
Originally conceived by Norwich Arts Centre, Young Norfolk Arts Trust and the National Centre for Writing, the awards are now supported by many more local arts institutions. The YNCA team say “producing art, being creative, making work, connecting with audiences in all sorts of settings, there are no rules now on how or where this happens, and the YNCA programme is a response to this upsurge of creativity in our city.”
Lilie said: “The standard of work just goes up and up. Any one of our finalists would have been a worthy recipient of the award, but our winner this year showed a lot of courage and humour – two challenging areas for any writer!” The Creative Writing winner this year is Billy White (pictured above with Lilie), with his short story “And the Walls Came Tumbling Down”. He receives £1,000 and mentoring support. Billy has agreed that Script6 can reproduce his winning entry on this website – so watch this space!

Script6 Mentoring Scheme Update (10 May 2024)
Liam Weston joined us as our first ever mentee in autumn 2023 after coming second in last year’s Norwich Young Creatives competition. It’s been great working with him as he’s developed a new short film script from scratch. Last week we were able to enjoy our first outdoor script meeting of the year, discussing his plans for the finished piece.

Script6 co-founder Lilie Ferrari on Norwich awards panel for young writers
Script6 director and co-founder Lilie Ferrari has been busy judging part of the Norwich Young Creatives Awards. The awards, for young people in the region aged 16-25, were mounted by the Norwich Arts Centre, the National Centre for Writing, and Young Norfolk Arts Trust. Lilie was one 3 judges in the writing category, won by young poet Megan Dennison for her poem the frost when it bites. She receives £1000 and a year’s mentoring.
“I was so impressed by the range of entries”, Lilie said. “The maturity and courage these young writers displayed was astonishing. I see some bright futures ahead!”

THIS COVID LIFE WINNER’S FILM SELECTED FOR FILM FESTIVAL
We’re delighted that Zoe Hunter Gordon’s film ‘Some Kind of Window’ has been selected by the 2021 Little Wing Film Festival.
Zoe, one of the five This Covid Life winners, has been busy this year filming her script – originally titled ‘Sammy’ – and we hope this is just the first of many outings for this moving short.
BELONA GREENWOOD INTERVIEWED ON BBC RADIO NORFOLK ABOUT HER NEW RADIO PLAY WHALE STRIKE – 29/4/2021
Script 6 co-director Belona Greenwood was interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk’s Stephen Bumfrey Show on Thursday, 29 April about her new radio play, Whale Strike. The first of a series of magical tales about the natural world and the challenges of climate change, Whale Strike is an eco-fable about how the sea world reacts to all the plastic polluting the sea. It has been aired on BBC Radio Norfolk twice so far and you can listen to it here:

PILOT EPISODE OF NORWICH-SET RADIO DRAMA SERIES ‘PARKLIFE’ BROADCAST BY BBC RADIO NORFOLK
The pilot episode of Script6’s brand new radio drama serial Parklife was broadcast on Sophie Little’s Upload show on BBC Radio Norfolk on Saturday, 14 November and repeated on Monday, 21 December.
Set in a fictional Norwich park based on Eaton Park, the show’s storylines include a burgeoning romance between a new young gardener and a park trainee, and the struggles of the family who are trying to keep the park café open.
The pilot was written by award-winning writing Nicholas McInerny and includes guest appearances by former Norwich City FC and Northern Irish international Paul McVeigh and BBC Norfolk’s very own Chris Goreham.

NICHOLAS McINERNY JOINS SCRIPT6 AS OUR NEW CREATIVE ASSOCIATE
We’re thrilled to announce that Nicholas McInerny has joined Script6 as a Creative Associate. Nicholas is a highly experienced TV, radio, stage and film writer with credits on The Bill and Gems and Break of Day for BBC Radio Four. Nicholas has already worked closely with us on the pilot episode of Parklife and we’re looking forward to further collaborations.

LILIE FERRARI WINS JENNY LECOAT SCREENWRITING AWARD
In June, Script6 Director Lilie won the Jenny Lecoat Screenwriting Award, part of the 13th Parish Festival of Independent Film and Music on the island of Jersey. The award was funded by Soroptimist International, a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls.
The brief was to write a short film script based on Jersey, or with links to the island. Using the pseudonym of Fran Greenwood, Lilie wrote a script called GERMANOPHOBIA, about anxiety and prejudice on Jersey during the First World War. Judge Jenny Lecoat said:
“This is a touching study of vulnerability and courage. Set in a lesser known, rarely explored period of island history, it uses detail and subtlety to tell a simple but poignant story of defiance against prejudice – themes that resonate strongly with contemporary events.”
“The award is particularly important to me” says Lilie, “because it’s the first time I’ve ‘borrowed’ my novelist mother’s pseudonym. She wrote her first novel MARY TODD’S LAST TERM under the name Frances Greenwood, which was published in 1939. Thanks, mum!” She added: “I visited Jersey with my granddaughter some years ago, and was fascinated by its history – and by its beauty.”
The Festival has plans to record the script, as filming is not possible under the present circumstances. If it happens, we’ll post it on the Script6 website. Watch this space!
